My sister-in-law is one of THE BEST cooks that I know. We always love eating her creations, and she recently has decided to go onto a Primal Diet, which is pretty close to Paleo. She switched her whole family onto it, including her 6 year old, husband and 9 month-old. Impressive!
They invited us over a while ago for dinner and they made kabobs. We love making kabobs and were excited to try their version. Turns out, it was their very first attempt (I mean ever) that they had made them. Any they made their own marinade! I’m telling you, they are at a different skill level than us normal people.
After the first bite, we threw out our old recipe for kabobs and adopted theirs. We use this marinade for everything, and we also love it on a grilled flank steak. You can use this on beef, chicken, pork, and probably whatever else you can think of. The other nice thing about this is that it is a quick fix, only requiring to sit in the marinade for 30 minutes. That’s my type of marinade!
You might think that this looks a little sparse. We ALWAYS think that no matter how much we make it. If you are nervous about it, add a little more oil. But trust me when I say, it will be OK. Don’t fret about how “little” it looks; this stuff holds its own.
Low Sodium & Paleo Lime Basil Marinade – 0mg
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp grated orange peel
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled
- 1 handful of basil leaves
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Combine in a blender. Use to marinate approx. 1lb meat of your choice for 30 minutes room temperature, and up to 2 hours in the fridge.
